About us

Our vision

Our vision is that all desperately poor children around the world receive a new outfit made by one of our volunteers.

My desire to set up this charity began the day I took a closer look at one of the many photos I took of children during a trip to Uganda. It is a typical African scene – a line of beautiful smiling African children standing in front of a part-finished building amongst in the middle of the countryside. My eye focused in on the clothes they were wearing. You can’t call them clothes. They are torn, dirty pieces of cloth with no fit and no colour. I considered how careful I was to ensure my own children always looked clean and smart and asked myself the question, why shouldn’t these children also be cared for this way? And so I began the Prince Princess Foundation.

The power of community

A wonderful spin-off of the Foundation is that the making of the clothes also meets the needs of members of the local community. Sewers who are looking for social contact and interaction are welcome to join one of our sewing groups during the week. In addition to providing sewers with a goal for their sewing work, it offers them a reason to get out of the house, a sense of belonging, structure to their week, a chance to make friends, and for foreigners, a chance to practise speaking the language and integrate into local society.

Our values

The management and leadership of this organization is rooted in Christian values out of the belief that all people are loved unconditionally by God and all are equal in his sight.

As Christians we (het bestuur) believe that God calls us to show that same love to those around us, especially to those in the world who have lead a difficult life. Sadly there is a huge imbalance in our world with some people having too much whilst others have insufficient. This is our ‘’holy discontent’’. We know that in our own strength we cannot solve the world’s poverty problems but we read in the Bible:

I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible”.

Whilst our efforts may seem to some like a drop in the ocean, we believe that if we do what (little) we can under God’s leading, He will bless our efforts and ‘move mountains’.

We want to try to make a difference for some of the world’s desperate children. We want the children to know they are not forgotten and that they too are worthy of receiving and wearing something new especially for them, instead of only having to wear clothes someone else didn’t want anymore.

As a Christian-led organization, we uphold the following values within our organization:

  • Openness and honesty
  • Respect and kindness for one another
  • No swearing
  • No discrimination with regard to age, sex, race, religious belief
  • Whatever we do, do it to the best of our ability.
